Kim Nelson

Kim Nelson has grown up with horses in Kentucky. She began her career with Thoroughbreds at North Ridge Farm in Lexington, KY where she worked with foaling mares and yearlings. She moved on from there to work for Carl Nafzger as an assistant trainer and exercise rider. After the birth of her daughter she changed careers to handicapping for the Daily Racing Form. Once the Daily Racing Form closed its handicapping department in Lexington, Kim was very fortunate to land a position with Marylou Whitney Stables. She is now the assistant racing and breeding manager for Mrs. Whitney.

 Race 1

#4 Wild Pantera looks like she may be in the right spot to get the win. She had been facing a bit tougher at the Fair Grounds. She has a bullet work over the course and past efforts over the synthetic are decent. #5 Glamour Galore won her last out at Turfway in impressive fashion. She could get the steal here. #11 Gripey Sarah may have enough early foot to overcome her post. She is a distance specialist and looks the part to land a share.

Race 2

#1 School Spirit has been off a long time but trust the Catalano barn his him well prepared for his return. Do have concerns with the 1 post but if Napravnik gets a good break on him he could get the job done. #7 Play Bull is making his debut and brings a solid work tab. Top barn saddles the With Distinction colt. #3 Judicial Power had a horrible trip in his last and should turn in a good effort this time.

Race 3

#9 At the Finish has been off since October but she is a seasoned mare and has run well off the layoff in past form. She is a synthetic specialist and loves this distance. #7 Won Great Damsel has the early speed and likes to win. She showed her grit in her last effort and expect her to be a part of this one. #6 La Belle Cat has consistent Beyer numbers and looks competitive in this spot. #5 Get Runnin ran a good race at Keeneland in the fall and deserves a look.

Race 4

#7 Grenoble is complimented by Emotional Kitten’s allowance win here on Friday. Grenoble finished 4^th and was beaten only 2 lengths for all of it when facing that foe in her last. Emotional Kitten was 3^rd in that race. #5 Remember Then broke her maiden at first asking over the Keeneland course. Leparoux  in the irons for the Sheppard trained filly. #1 Alydorable broke her maiden last time out over the turf course at Fair Grounds. The one post could be tough for her but still should get part.

#8 Treasured Up has run with tough company and turned in respectable efforts. She faced a tough bunch again here but she may have a fitness edge on a few of these. Napravinik got the win on her last out and look for her to repeat here. #9 Eagle Hall seldom misses a check and is a distance specialist. This is a tough spot for her but if she brings her A game she can be dangerous. #3 Preferential is making her first start in the U.S. and gets Lasix for the first time.

#10 Vice Dancer has a race under her belt and has been turning in solid works. Like the Lion Heart filly at this distance. #11Flak has shown some early foot in her first 2 starts but has failed to fine the winners circle. She gets Leparoux in the saddle here and shortens up to 6 furlongs. Both should work to her advantage. #9 Waverly Place is a first timer from the Catalano barn. The Awesome Again filly has a strong work tab and looks capable for a share. #4 Sky Girl brings 2 bullet works and Lanerie in the irons.
