Keeneland welcomed Olympian and Lexington native Tyson Gay on Sunday, October 14, for a special salute. The day began with a Q&A interview moderated by Tom Leach with Tyson where the fans could ask questions from the audience. “This is an opportunity for Keeneland fans to pay tribute to Tyson,” said Bill Thomason, Keeneland’s President and CEO.
Hundreds of fans waited in line for more than an hour to take pictures and get autographs with Gay. Following the seventh race, Tyson presented the winning Julep Cup to the connection of St. George Farm’s Last Full Measure in the winner’s circle.
Gay has the title of a triple World Champion, an American record holder and the second-fastest man in history. He earned a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympic games as part of the of the 4 x100m relay team.
