Reflecting Overtakes Sneaky Kitten to Win Thursday’s Cobra Purse

LEXINGTON, KY (April 11, 2013) – Phipps Stable’s Reflecting surged past Sneaky Kitten in deep stretch to win the $62,000 Cobra Purse for four-year-olds and up by two lengths before a crowd of 7,224 on Thursday afternoon at Keeneland.

Trained by Shug McGaughey and ridden by Robby Albarado, Reflecting covered the 1½ miles on a firm turf course in 2:29.78.

Odds-on favorite Belo Acteon (BRZ) led the field of eight unopposed through the first 1¼ miles in 2:04.95. At the head of the stretch, Sneaky Kitten and Reflecting moved as a team at the leader and quickly went by with Reflecting going best of all in the final yards.

Reflecting, a four-year-old homebred son of Elusive Quality out of the A.P. Indy mare Daydreaming, improved his record to 10-3-0-2 and boosted his bankroll to $107,353 with Thursday’s check of $37,200.

Reflecting returned $6.80, $4 and $2.40. Sneaky Kitten, ridden by Julien Leparoux, returned $4 and $2.60 with Belo Acteon finishing four lengths back in third under Joel Rosario and paying $2.20 to show.

Racing resumes Friday with a 10-race program highlighted by the return to the races of 2012 Horse of the Year Wise Dan. Trained by Charles LoPresti, Wise Dan will face four rivals, including defending champion Data Link, in the $300,000 Maker’s 46 Mile (G1). First post time Friday is 1:05 p.m. (ET) with the Maker’s 46 Mile going as the afternoon’s ninth race with a 5:13 post time.
