LEXINGTON, KY (April 10, 2014) – Hill ‘N Dale Farm’s Sir Applesolutely surged past pace-setting Console inside the sixteenth pole to win the featured $64,000 Brookdale Purse for 4-year-olds and up by 1½ lengths before a crowd of 10,289 on a sunny Thursday afternoon at Keeneland. Trained by Neil Pessin and ridden by Shaun Bridgmohan, Sir Applesolutely covered the 6 ½ furlongs on the fast main track in 1:16.18.
Sir Applesolutely is a 5-year-old gelded Illinois homebred son of Henny Hughes out of the Affirmed mare Applesolutely. The victory was worth $33,600 and increased Sir Applesolutely’s earnings to $198,771 with a record of 14-5-3-4.
Sir Applesolutely returned mutuels of $23.60, $9.80 and $6. Admiral Perry, ridden by Joe Rocco Jr., was elevated to second place after Console, under Javier Castellano, was disqualified and placed third for interference in the stretch. Admiral Perry returned $7.20 and $5.20 with Console paying $5.40 to show.
