LEXINGTON, KY (Nov. 16, 2017) – Calumet Farm acquired the session-topping horse on Thursday at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, paying $110,000 for the Unbridled’s Song mare Camryn’s Gem in foal to Wicked Strong.
Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency, agent, sold Camryn’s Gem, a 6-year-old mare from the family of champions Rubiano and Summer Bird and Grade 1 winner and leading sire Tapit. She is out of the winning Woodman mare Rubywood.
On Thursday, Keeneland sold 235 horses for $2,886,300, down 13.50 percent from the 10th session last year when total sales reached $3,336,700 for 247 horses sold. The average of $12,282 was 9.08 percent below last year’s $13,509, and the median of $7,500 decreased 16.67 percent from $9,000 in 2016.
Cumulatively, Keeneland has sold 2,197 horses for $200,620,600, a 5.24 percent decrease from the first 10 sessions of the 2016 sale when 2,171 horses grossed $211,708,000. The average of $91,316 is 6.36 percent below last year’s $97,516, while the median of $40,000 remains unchanged.
Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency, agent, also consigned Thursday’s second high seller, the Giant’s Causeway mare Prodicious Facts in foal to Violence purchased by Stuart Angus TMSA, agent, for $95,000. Out of the Quiet American mare In Truth, the 5-year-old mare is a half-sister to stakes winner Mr Palmer and from the family of Grade 1 winners Behrens and Commentator.
Calumet Farm was the day’s leading buyer, purchasing four horses for $229,000, including the session’s topped-priced weanling, a Dialed In colt for $65,000. Consigned by Shawhan Place, agent, the colt is out of the winning Pajama Bottom, by Include and from the family of Grade 1 winners Unbridled Elaine, Glitter Woman and Political Force.
With gross sales of $260,880 for 20 horses, Gainesway, agent, led all consignors for the session.
