LEXINGTON, KY (April 4, 2013) – Dixie Blossom breezed an eighth of a mile in :9.4 – the fastest time of the day at that distance – to highlight Thursday’s Preview Show works, held in advance of Keeneland’s April Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale. The April Sale is scheduled for Monday, April 8, at 4 p.m. ET.
Dixie Blossom is a filly by Dixie Union out of the Lemon Drop Kid mare Lemon Blossom, and is from the family of Canadian champion Hero’s Love. She is consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, agent.
Hip #1, a colt from the first crop of Thewayyouare consigned by Eddie Woods, agent, recorded the day’s fastest time for a quarter-mile, getting the distance in :21.0. Out of the Polish Numbers mare Tanca, the colt is from the family of graded stakes winners Heart of Joy and Midnight Cry.
“The track played fair, and times were consistent from start to finish,” Keeneland Vice President of Sales Walt Robertson said. “We were very pleased with the crowd. The works were well attended on a cool spring day.”
One juvenile – Hip #48, a colt from the first crop of Old Fashioned – breezed three-eighths of a mile in :34.1. Consigned by Stephens Thoroughbreds, agent, the colt is out of stakes-placed Eagle’s Song, by Proud Citizen, and is from the family of 2012 Hawthorne Derby (G3) winner Two Months Rent.

What a Name (IRE), a graduate of last year’s April Sale and co-champion two-year-old in France, won today’s Prix Imprudence (G3) at Maisons-Laffitte. The Mr. Greeley filly, owned by Sheikh Mohammad bin Khalifa Al Tani, is now among the favorites for the One Thousand Guineas (G1), to be run at Newmarket in May. What a Name (IRE) was consigned to the April Sale by Ciaran Dunne’s Wavertree Stables and purchased for $350,000 by John McCormack Bloodstock, agent.
