LEXINGTON, KY (Oct. 31, 2017) – Sixty-six Keeneland sales graduates and 28 horses that raced and/or trained here during the recently concluded Fall Meet headline entries for the 34th running of the more than $28 million Breeders’ Cup World Championships on Friday and Saturday at Del Mar.
Through 2016, 95 graduates of Keeneland sales have won 103 Breeders’ Cup races. The Fall Meet has produced 42 horses that have won 45 Breeders’ Cup races.
Keeneland sales graduates represent more than half of the field in the $6 million Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1), with seven of the 11 entrants. Last year’s winner and Keeneland sales graduate, champion Arrogate, will defend his title in the event. Additional Keeneland sales alumni in the race are Win the Space, War Story, West Coast, Gunnevera, Pavel and Collected.
Another sales graduate is Keeneland-based European champion Lady Aurelia, who headlines the $1 million Turf Sprint (G1) and is joined in the race by sales graduates Hogy and Mongolian Saturday.
Horses entered in the Breeders’ Cup and cataloged to Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale that begins Nov. 7 are multiple Grade 1 winner Lady Eli, a Keeneland sales graduate, and champion Stellar Wind.

Another stakes winner from the Fall Meet scheduled to race in the Breeders’ Cup is Bucchero, winner of the Woodford (G2) Presented by Keeneland Select. He is entered in the Sprint.
