Keeneland Sale Graduate Groupie Doll Closes Race Career in Championship Fashion

LEXINGTON, KY (Feb. 10, 2014) – Keeneland sale graduate and two-time champion Groupie Doll on Sunday marked the end of a remarkable racing career with an exclamation point when she rallied from last to win the Hurricane Bertie Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream by 7 lengths. Owner Mandy Pope purchased Groupie Doll for $3.1 million at Keeneland’s 2013 November Breeding Stock Sale.

During a career that spanned four years, Groupie Doll recorded 12 wins from 23 starts and earned $2,648,850. Nine of her wins came in graded stakes, including the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1) in 2012 and 2013, and the Vinery Madison (G1) and Thoroughbred Club of America (G2) at Keeneland in 2012.
