September Sale Alum Unique Bella Wins Santa Ysabel; Early Kentucky Oaks Favorite

LEXINGTON, KY (March 6, 2017) – Keeneland September Yearling Sale graduates captured the top spots in Saturday’s two preps on the Road to the Kentucky Derby (G1), led by Xpressbet Fountain of Youth (G2) winner Gunnevera and Gotham (G3) winner J Boys Echo, who vaulted to 1-2, respectively, on the Kentucky Derby leaderboard with their 50-point victories.

Nine of the ten top point earners on the Road to the Kentucky Derby are graduates of Keeneland sales. Gunnevera sits atop the leaderboard following a spectacular last-to-first move that resulted in a 5¾-length victory in the Fountain of Youth at Gulfstream. Practical Joke, sold at the January Horses of All Ages Sale as well as September Sale, finished second in his sophomore debut and ranks fourth among point earners.

J Boy’s Echo, Cloud Computing and El Areeb finished 1-2-3 in the Gotham at Aqueduct and claim positions among the top 10 Derby contenders by points earned.

September Sale alum Unique Bella confirmed her status as the early favorite for the Kentucky Oaks (G1) by notching her third consecutive graded stakes win, a 2¼-length romp in the Santa Ysabel (G3) at Santa Anita.

Keeneland sales graduates comprised all five entries for Sunday’s Las Flores (G3) at Santa Anita, won by Pretty N Cool in her first start since September at Del Mar.
