V. E. Day Becomes Fifth Consecutive Keeneland Sales Alum to Win Travers

LEXINGTON, KY (Aug. 25, 2014) V. E. Day and Wicked Strong, both graduates of Keeneland’s 2012 September Yearling Sale, ran 1-2 in Saturday’s Travers (G1) at Saratoga.

V. E. Day came with a late drive to overtake stablemate Wicked Strong in the final strides and win by a nose. Both horses are trained by Jimmy Jerkens. V. E. Day becomes the fifth consecutive Keeneland-sold winner of the Travers (G1), following champion Will Take Charge (2013), Golden Ticket (2012, dead-heat), Stay Thirsty (2011) and Afleet Express (2010).

Fellow 2012 September Sale alum The Big Beast won the Ketel One King’s Bishop (G1), also on Saturday at Saratoga.
