Today’s NY Hot List races to watch – March 8, 2013 at Aqueduct

1st race – (2) Sylvia T (an A last time) ran second to a pretty good horse last time and is the only one in this field with experience in the mud and she ran second twice. (4) Dowager is up from Gulfstream and is the horse to beat off that most recent effort in a route. (5) Melody Lin (A) may have prevailed last time if not for the horrible stretch traffic. Steps way up in class here, but hitting the board at a price isn’t out of the question.
5th race – (5) Shotgun City (A) was caught at the wire last time and his most recent two races are fast enough for him to be a factor here. (4) Ultimo Principe is stepping up in class, but should still be in the mix as usual. (1) So Scott goes out for Jacobson and has been consistently faster than the rest and 3 second-place finishes in the mud is a good sign.
7th race – (2) Itsagoodtendollars (C) looked like a winner last time, but yielded late. Should be at his best third off the layoff and does take a liking to a wet track. (4) Chairman Now has won 2 of 3 and will be favored in this race. (1) Point Taken is dangerous first off the Jacobson claim. (5) Anaphylaxis (A) comes in off a freshening and stumbled badly leaving the gate last time. (8) Festive Spirit (B) came flying late last time, but this field is a little tougher. Still has a chance if pace scenario causes race to fall apart.
8th race – (6) Motion Lounge (C) has put in two solid and improved efforts off the layoff and third off the bench could be the charm. (1) She’s Always Hot is a horse we liked last time, but she didn’t fire. Perhaps we can expect better today third off the layoff. (4) Milkyyourway (D) needed that last race off the layoff and we could see a better result today. (2) Clever Spirit (D) looks like a turf type, but this is a softer field than he is used to and he could enjoy the inner. Worth fooling around with at the expected price.
Best bet: Motion Lounge (8th); Best value: Itsagoodtendollars (7th)
