Aqueduct Hot List - March 9

Today’s NY Hot List races to watch – March 9, 2013 at Aqueduct

Hot List Key:

A : A preferred horse to watch                  B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

3rd race – (3) Junior Officer (a B last time) actually ran a career best last time while bothered on the first turn by a loose horse. (8) Sea to Sky (C) goes second time against winners after just missing at this level last time out. (4) Coalition (B) has outrun his odds the last few tries and they came on mediocre trips. Would not be surprised if he took this one. (7) Rambling drops in class and we can safely toss his last try.

4th race – (1) Patriotic Duty (B) has been getting a little bit better with every race and drops to an all-time low for an improved barn. (4) Tactical Saenz (C) closed last time on a day when speed was king and it came first time against winners at this level so improvement is possible. (6) Bizarroworld needed that last race off the layoff and has two solid works since. (5) Half Lucky looks talented, but has been off since April.

7th race – (7) Thnxtomyuncle (B) has been quite consistent in three starts and just some moderate improvement makes him tough in here. (2) Here Comes Tommy goes third off the layoff after that big step forward last start. (3) Greeley Pack (B) improved his finish position last time, but not his speed number.  However he did race 3-wide so more of an inside could help the cause. (5) M P Joe could be a sleeper in this field as he has run well against some tough horses that returned to win their next starts.

9th race – (5) Clawback (A) improves with every race and has won two straight going away.  Could this be a prep for the Wood? (1) Maleeh has just the maiden win in his only race, but it was awfully impressive and McLaughlin is excellent in these situations. (3) Whiskey Romeo is 3 for 3 out of town, but has been off for 3 months. (7) Rubysandpearls (C) comes off a win in an overnight and goes third off the layoff at a price.

Best bet: Clawback (9th); Best value: Patriotic Duty (4th)

No.
