Chicago Invader Takes Keeneland Handicapping Challenge

Paul Hoffman of Schaumburg, Illinois rode $64 winner Regimental in Arlington’s 8th race to a victory worth $8,000 in Saturday’s Keeneland DRF-NTRA Handicapping Challenge, overtaking long-time leader Thomas (Chris) Long of Cincinnati. Long finished 2nd after leading much of the day, but still earned $4,000 and a spot in the $2-million Daily Racing Form/NTRA National Handicapping Challenge presented by Racetrack TV Network, Sovereign Stable and Treasure Island. Hoffman had already qualified the maximum two times for the NHC.

Stephen McNatton of Cary, NC earned his 2nd NHC spot, tying for 3rd place with T.J. Taylor of Independence, Kentucky. Taylor also earned a spot in the NHC, and each won $2,000.

Michael McIntyre of Massilon, Ohio hit the last race of the tournament at Gulfstream Park with $11 winner Second Base, and vaulted into fifth place, earning $1,200 and the fourth and final spot in the NHC.

The Keeneland Handicapping Challenge attracted 161 horseplayers, with 229 total entries. Four coveted spots to the NHC were awarded, along with over $23,000 in prize money. The top 20 finishers with their bankroll totals are listed below:
