By Bob Ehalt and Shawn Rychling

Hot List Key:

A : A preferred horse to watch                  B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

1st race – (9) Backstairs Gossip  (B)  turned in a decent effort while taking a big class jump. Returns to a level where she belongs and gets the nod over a weak bunch. (2) Denyit was fourth from post 12 and could be closer from an inside post. (8) Hope Run makes his debut for Kenneally and could be a factor against these. (1) Dreamingofauntliz had a wide trip in her debut; should improve from the rail.  Betting strategy:  9 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-2-8-9. Doubles: 1-2-8-9 with 1-2-9-10.

2nd race – (10) La Torera was an impressive winner of her last start and returns at the same bottom level claiming price. Should make it two in a row against these. (1) Kristina’s Slew has some late speed and could land in the exotics. (2) Pure Sunshine flopped at a mile and should rebound back in a sprint. (9) Phoebe Moon gets a little more distance here, which should help. Betting strategy: 10 to win, place.  Exacta box: 1-2-9-10

5th race – (10) Tale of the Dance (D) was well-bet but disappointed in his first try in a claimer. Could perk up today as he returns at the same level and switches to Rosario. (8) Geometry has plenty of early speed and is the one to fear. (9) Graybignbadlikedad could be tougher after finishing fourth in his turf debut. (6) Demographic Trend was a wide third against better and cannot be ignored. Betting strategy: 10 to win, place. Exacta box: 6-8-9-10.

7th race – (2) Jupiter had some traffic problems and still lost by less than a length. Looks best in a competitive race. (9) Notimetokill has enough speed to overcome an outside post and should be the one to catch in the stretch. (1) Code of Conduct had a miserable trip last time. Figures to improve as he drops in class and adds Velazquez. (3) Get a Grip fits in better here after racing a mile and a half last time.  Betting strategy: 2 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-2-3-9. Doubles: 1-2-3-9 with 1-2.

8th race – (2) Barisoff (A) returned from a 9-month layoff and was a sharp second. Should improve off that effort and make amends for that defeat today. The Pletcher entry of (1) Lucky Friend and I Am Discreet are definitely the ones to fear. (8) Black Heir was a rallying third against claimers; could surprise here. (6) So Blessed was third in a stakes but has been idle since October. Betting strategy: 2 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-2-6-8.
