Today’s Gulfstream horses Hot List races to watch – Friday, March 15, 2013

By Bob Ehalt and Shawn Rychling

Hot List Key:

A : A preferred horse to watch                  B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

1st race – (5) Act One Scene One  (a D last time) attracted enough attention at the mutuel windows to drop from 7-2 to 2-1 then showed speed before folding up in the stretch. Takes a serious class drop and should be able to handle these. (6) Iron Post woke up to win at 10-1. Should be dangerous if he can duplicate that effort. (9) Sheriff Ira had trouble at the break and settled for fourth. Could move forward off that try. (8) Large Kaufy has speed and an outside post and shouldn’t be discounted.  Betting strategy:  5 to win, place. Exacta box:  5-6-8-9.

3rd race – (6) Pro d’Oro (C) was knocked down from 5-2 to 8-5 and settled for second. Should make amends here. (5) Criolla Linda gets a little more distance here which should help her cause. (9) Longing for Quiet was fourth after a slow start and is eligible to improve. (3) Love Numbers has disappointed in her last two starts but might wake up in this spot.  Betting strategy: 6 to win, place.  Exacta box: 3-5-6-9. Doubles: 3-5-6-9 with 1-3-5-8

4th race – (8) Xmas Sky (D) was knocked down from 5-1 to 3-1 but tired in a turf sprint. Drops into a claimer and switches to dirt, improving the chances of a wake-up effort. (1) Ben’s Best Bet was a wide second and could improve from the rail. (3) Trueamericanpride has speed and could last for a share. (5) Mecke Mantle gives dirt a try and might hit a home run. Betting strategy: 8 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-3-5-8.

8th race – (2) Bernie’s Best (C) took plenty of action in dropping from 2-1 to 4-5 then lost all chance when bumped at the top of the stretch while moving. Looks best against these. (10) Seekingthediamond  (B) was second despite running into trouble at the start and at the top of the stretch. Seems like the one to fear off seconds in both career starts. (7) Unitarian has been trying to run on turf and should get that chance today. (9) Unbridled War was a troubled fifth and could be closer this time.  Betting strategy: 2 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-7-9-10.

10th race – (3)Dance Wild (C) dropped from 2-1 to 8-5 but tired to third as the favorite. Looks like the one to beat as she adds blinkers and cuts back to a mile.  (4) Maura’s Image was 2nd at 60-1 and may be on the upswing. (5) Libra Four switches riders to Gonzales and could register an upset. (1) Bird in the Bush may last for a share from the rail. Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-3-4-5.

No.
