Today’s Gulfstream horses Hot List races to watch – Friday, March 8, 2013

By Bob Ehalt and Shawn Rychling

Hot List Key:

A : A preferred horse to watch                  B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worse
* - 4 or mo6re betting notches if 11-1 or more.

1st race – (6) Swear Me In  (a C last time) took a big, surprising hit from 27-1 to 13-1 and was a game second in her turf debut. Was well-meant that day and should make amends here. (5) Analogy is getting better, as reflected in back-to-back wins, and should be the one to catch. (1) I Know It All has been coming up short but has the rail and Johnny V and can’t be ignored. (4) In Haste has a strong late kick and would benefit from a quick pace. Betting strategy:  6 to win, place. Exacta box:  1-4-5-6. Doubles: 1-4-5-6 with 1-2-3-4. Pick 3: 1-4-5-6-8-9 with 1-2-3-4-5 with 3.

2nd race – (1) Cosmic Crown (D) went from 12-1 to 8-1 and then led to the eighth pole before tiring. Might benefit from that start – and the rail – and hang on here. (2) Pom Pom Power is getting closer and might have something to cheer about here. (4) Lady Marian Louise should factor in the exotics. (3) Where Is Wilder could wake up off a turn back to a sprint  Betting strategy: 1 to win, place.  Exacta box: 1-2-3-4. Doubles: 1-2-3-4-5 with 3 and 1-2-3-4 with 1-3-4-8.

3rd race – (3) White Rose (A) was a wide second last time for Mott and should handle this group unless there’s an untested turf monster out there. (1) Proud Vixen makes her grass debut for a sharp turf trainer. (8) Thousandfold makes her debut for Pletcher and deserves respect. (4) Rockatilla has an interesting potential for turf. Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-3-4-8.

6th race – (6) Ribo Bobo (C) stays at a suspicious level off a 6-length win, but he’s won his last two starts by a combined 10 lengths. Have to stick with him until he blinks. (1) Bob Can’t Jump also comes off a big win and drops in claiming price. Hard to ignore him or stablemate Fly South. (9) Hit the Cycle was given a break off a weak effort and may rebound today. (7) Bright Knight also drops in search of an easier spot.  Betting strategy: 6 to win, place. Exactas: 1-6 over 7-9 and 7-9 over 1-6. Exacta box: 1-6.

10th race – (3) Bear Always (C) was knocked down from 5-2 to 8-5 then finished an even third. Gets more distance here and that might help his cause. (4) Weslinn tired at Tampa but may hang on better at Gulfstream. (2) Kings Parade  is 9 but was third in his lone dirt try. A return to that surface might lead to good things here. The entry of (1) Troubles Comin and Bidham seem as good as anyone else here.  Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-2-3-4.

No.
