Happy Opening Day of the Keeneland Fall Meet! Lets get Fall-Stars Weekend rolling!!

1st Race

7-6-5

#7 Parkway comes out of the toughest races in my opinion as far as the dirt form is concerned and adding blinkers today makes this horse a big threat to make the lead in this first wire finish race.  #6 Gatlinburg also tends to sit close and his dirt form should be useful versus this group here today. #5 Bernin Hot will also try to mix it up early, but has to step up from his recent bit of competition that he's been facing.

2nd Race

8-7-1

#8 West Beach looks like it may be his turn to win a race after running a very good second in stakes company at Kentucky Downs last month as a maiden. #7 Don’t Backdown also ran well Kentucky Downs and his most recent start and has shown some ability on both dirt and turf, but it looks like he's better on turf according to his most recent effort. #1 Scorpius is a full brother to the Kentucky Derby winner, Mandouloun. It seems odd that he debuts on turf given what his brother did on dirt but certainly still has to be respected especially for Trainer, Brad Cox.

3rd Race

11-2-4

#11 Upon a Star put together a strong debut effort back in February in New Orleans. Trainer Brad Cox always has him cranked up and ready to go for these Keeneland meets so looms the one to beat in my opinion. #2 Ebhaaj ads, blinkers and moves over to dirt so the changes and start two of his career. What intrigue me with this well bred filly. #4 Prodigieux makes her debut for trainer Cherie DeVaux, who also is a barn to keep an eye on at any Keeneland meet. She was purchased for $550,000 as a yearling at the Keeneland September Sale in 2022.

4th Race

6-11-1

#6 Eclatant is a full sister to the stakes winner, Mutasabeq, who won his steak on dirt. Miss Philly is already a winner in her only start and while this is a step up in class, she certainly looks as though she is more than capable of starting her career two for two. #11 Tiz Purple ran too very good races to begin her career and then jumped into the deep end of the pool in the G1 Spinaway in her last start. I'm blaming that performance on too deep of a field that she faced and the wet surface she caught up in New York. Should bounce back today.

5th Race

9-2-8

#9 Stylish Sue it's a Philly who has beaten older horses twice in the past as she tackles them again today. She likes to make the lead and keep on galloping and I think that she'll build off of her most recent defeat at Kentucky Downs as she's cutting back slightly and distance today.  #8 Self Confident has gotten into the habit of gaining ground in her recent races, and I would expect that she should be able to do so again today.

6th Race

9-2-1

#9 Banned for Life to me. It's a good set up from the outside post that he leaves From because of the speed down on the inside I think that the #2 Montalcino and #1 Air of Defiance both hook up and set things up for this horse.

7th Race

6-1-4

#6 Banjo Chris appears as though he'll get Goode set up to run down some early speed as he's one that likes to make a move from off the pace. #1 Federal Judge has the speed to win, compose the one and he cuts back in distance after showing speed at slightly longer distances at Saratoga. Definitely a horse with a lot of ability just needs to break Sharp from that inside post. #4 Nakatomi will be the pretty big favor having won the grade one Vanderbilt at Saratoga in his most recent start. He also is good here at Keeneland having 13 or five starts as not only is this one too strongly consider today but also watch out for comfort Breeders’ Cup time given how well he ran last year in the Breeders’ Cup. In fact, whomever wins, today is a serious player for the Breeders’ Cup sprint.

8th Race

3-12-2

#3 Sashay Away is a filly that can really fly home late and I think that she gets a nice set up here today in order to do so against this quality group. #12 Miss Lonelle looks like a Philly that only is going to get better. The longer these races go, and she should sit tactically close to the pace given the way that she ran in her two starts which we're both of sprints. #2 Isle of Capri showed some serious ability at Kentucky Downs beating a big field by four lengths in her only start. A big step up, but these connections wouldn't be here if they didn't feel as though they had a legit opportunity.

9th Race

6-8-3

#6 Quickick really showed something impressive in her second start when they added blinkers and I like the way that she quickened in her most recent start giving me the impression that handling two terms will not be an issue today. #8 Immersive has started her career two for two and both times she sprung upsets in them. This will be the first time she goes two turns but she has the pedigree to be any kind for Godolphin and trainer Brad Cox. She's the likely favorite in this race.

10th Race

7-6-2

#7 Cloudwalker to me, it's a good set up in this race and in her most recent start she was ranked because there was no pace in that route race. There will be plenty of speed for this really to settle and make a big run. #6 Baraye is part of the speed in this race, and Definately can afford and hold on for a piece of it at the very least she's also a serious threat to win. #2 Etrurian is another speedy Philly who's stepping up as far as competition coming in from South Florida, but she'll blast away from there. If everything goes right it's just a matter of how fast she has to go and whether it catches up with her late.
