Horsemen Details for the Fall Meet

Keeneland’s Fall Meet, held October 2 -24, will allow access to a limited number of participating owners to attend on the day their horse is running.  Due to restrictions resulting from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, spectators will not be permitted.  In this unique environment, Keeneland invites you to take in the excitement and carry on your race-day traditions from home.

Horseman Guidelines

  • Any stable employees that are coming from out of the state of Kentucky and planning to reside on Keeneland’s grounds will be required to take a COVID-19 test at Keeneland or provide proof of a negative test from within 72 hours in order to gain access to their allocated living quarters. Testing on-site at Keeneland will be available in advance of the beginning of the race meet with those details to be communicated in the near future.
  • Keeneland’s Horsemen’s Hospitality team will contact owners to arrange credentials as the race fields are set.
  • Owners with a horse entered in a race on the undercard will receive four credentials per horse for the day their horse is running.
  • Owners with a horse entered in a stakes race will receive six credentials per horse for the day their horse is running.
  • Owners will have assigned seating both inside and out on race day.
  • Keeneland will offer limited food and beverage service.
  • All individuals must wear a face mask and maintain proper social distancing while on the grounds.
  • Health screenings, including a series of brief questions and temperature checks, will continue at Gates 2 and 3 for everyone entering the Keeneland grounds.
  • A maximum of 2 owners will be permitted to enter the Saddling Paddock & Winner’s Circle with designated lapel stickers being required for entry. These stickers will be distributed the day of the race.
  • Owners will not be permitted to enter the Stable Area

    Health and Safety Guidelines

    With the safety and well-being of our patrons, horsemen and employees at the forefront of our planning, we are excited to welcome you back to Keeneland. Based on guidance from health authorities and government agencies, we are implementing new safety measures.

    Daily Medical Screenings at Keeneland Gates: Only those with a temperature less than 100.4 degrees and showing no symptoms of illness will be granted access to the Keeneland grounds.

    Face Coverings Required for Everyone: Masks are required at all times for patrons and employees. Masks may be removed when patrons are seated at their table or grandstand reserved seat.

    Social Distancing and Capacity Measures: To allow for social distancing, a limited number of individuals are permitted inside the Keeneland grandstand. Groups attending the Fall Meet together are expected to remain at least 6 feet away from other groups.

    Increased Sanitation Protocols: Keeneland has increased sanitation measures throughout the facility. Patrons and employees are expected to wash or sanitize their hands often. Multiple hand sanitizing stations have been added throughout the facility for your convenience.

    Fall Meet

    Keeneland Backside & Morning Works

    Only those people required for the direct daily care of the horses on Keeneland’s backside will be permitted during morning works. Additionally, licensed owners, with horses stabled on Keeneland’s grounds, will be permitted to watch their horses during morning works from the Apron or Grandstand. All owners will be required to pass through a health screening check point, wear face coverings at all times, and properly maintain social distancing.

    Race Day Operations

    Keeneland’s limited grounds access will end at 10 a.m. daily, following morning workouts. At this point, only horsemen responsible for the daily care of the horses on the backside are permitted. At 12 p.m. Keeneland's South Gate entrance will open to credentialed horsemen and owners.

    Security Gate Check: Horsemen should enter through Gate 2, where they will check-in with their name and perform a temperature check and answer a list of questions pertaining to current state of public health. Horsemen who do not pass all aspects of health screening will not be permitted onto the property.

    Parking: Will be open and not require a pass. No valet parking will be available. Handicap parking is available in the Clubhouse lot with golf carts to escort individuals.

    Masks: Horsemen are required to wear face masks from the time of entry on Keeneland's grounds until they have arrived at their designated seat or table.

    Admission Gates: Gates open at 12:00 p.m. to credentialed owners. All attendees are asked to enter through the South Gate entrance, near the Welcome Center.

    Paddock: Access to this area is limited to the trainer, trainer’s assistant and groom. Additionally 2 owners per horse will be allowed access with a designated lapel sticker being required for entry.

    Food & Beverage: A limited number of food and beverage options will be available for purchase throughout the grandstand on the second and third floors. Those accommodated in areas other than the grandstand will have the choice of a limited a la carte menu.

    Mutuels: Live tellers will be available throughout the facility. No self-service machines will be in operation. Guests are encouraged to wager from their mobile device through Keeneland Select for a contactless option. Drive-thru betting will be located at The Red Mile.

    Racing Office: This area will be limited to essential staff only and will have security monitoring.
