Racing Entry Requirements

Trainers who wish to enter a horse at Keeneland are required to complete the following steps prior to entry.

Step 1: Submit "Keeneland Safety Agreement"

A “ Keeneland Saftey Agreement” agreement signed by both the trainer and his/her attending veterinarian must be on file at Keeneland. Signed agreements can be handed to the Racing Office or Stable Office, or emailed to [email protected].

Step 2: Attending Veterinarian Exam

As a condition of the agreement, all horses must be examined by the trainer’s attending veterinarian during the three (3) days immediately preceding entry to race for the purpose of evaluating the horse’s fitness to race and been found fit to race by the attending veterinarian. (This evaluation shall include, at a minimum, watching the horse jog.)
