Grooms Vie For Best Turned-out Awards

Darley and Stoll Keenon Ogden, respective sponsors of today’s $500,000 Darley Alcibiades (G1) and $350,000 Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix (G2), also are sponsoring today’s Best Turned-Out Awards for every race to recognize the grooms of racehorses determined to have the best overall appearance. 

Judges like to see horses with shiny hair, flowing tails and tidy manes and grooms wearing neat clothing. A representative from Darley or Stoll Keenon Ogden will judge the horses in the Saddling Paddock prior to each race and present a $300 cash prize to the winning groom.

“The Best Turned-Out Awards give Keeneland and our sponsors the opportunity to recognize the efforts of the grooms who work so hard with these horses every day,” Keeneland Sponsorship Director Bonnie Senft said.

Best Turned-Out Awards will continue throughout the Fall Meet on days with sponsored stakes.
