Factor This Wins Wednesday’s Featured Saxony Purse

Gaining Ground Racing’s Factor This scored a 4½-length victory over 10 rivals in Wednesday’s featured $81,000 Saxony Purse for 4-year-olds and up before a crowd of 11,048.

Ridden by Florent Geroux for trainer Brad Cox, Factor This covered the 1 1/16 miles on a firm turf course in 1:42.58 and earned $48,600. (Click here for a video of the race.)

Factor This, a Keeneland sales graduate, is a 4-year-old colt by The Factor out of the Singspiel (IRE) mare Capricious Miss (GB). He recorded the fifth win of his career to improve his record to 19-5-2-2 with earnings of $274,255.

Factor This, who went off at odds of 4-1, paid $10.20, $4.20 and $3.60. Runner-up St. Denman, the 8-5 favorite, paid $3.20 and $2.60 with Luis Saez aboard. Fred’stwirlingcandy, ridden by Brian Hernandez Jr., returned $3.20 to show.

Tomorrow is the penultimate day of Keeneland’s Spring Meet with a nine-race program that begins at 1:05 p.m. ET.

Thursday also is Horses and Hope Pink Day. Fans are encouraged to wear pink and support Horses and Hope, which works to increase cancer awareness, education, screening and treatment referral among Kentucky’s horse industry workers and special populations across the commonwealth. The event, in its 11th year at Keeneland, features a Horses and Hope race to honor breast cancer survivors.

In conjunction with Horses and Hope, Keeneland and the Shantel Lanerie Breast Cancer Foundation will host a Jockey Autograph Signing with current and retired riders. All proceeds will go directly to the Lanerie Foundation. Hats may be signed for ($30), posters ($20), jockey goggles ($15) and personal items ($5). The signing is from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. outside the Walking Ring.

Friday is closing day of the Spring Meet.
