Living The Dream Stables’ 3-1 favorite Seven Scents outfought Oceanic then held off a late charge from Bullseye Beauty to score a neck victory in Sunday’s featured $130,000 Scarteen Purse for 4-year-olds and up on Military Day at Keeneland. (Click here for a video of the race.)
Florent Geroux rode Seven Scents for trainer Brad Cox and covered 5½ furlongs on the turf course rated as firm in 1:01.63.
A graduate of two Keeneland sales, Seven Scents is a 6-year-old gelding by Goldencents out of the Broken Vow mare Forever Vow. He earned $44,128 today to increase his 2022 earnings to $133,268 for his third win in six starts this year. In January at Sam Houston Race Park, Seven Scents captured the Pulse Power Turf Sprint at 5 furlongs on turf.
For today’s win, Seven Scents paid $8.60, $4 and $3.80. Runner-up Bullseye Beauty, ridden by James Graham, returned $8.40 and $5.40. Finishing third was Oceanic and jockey Julien Leparoux, who paid $6 to show.
High Crime finished a head back in fourth and was followed by Mr. Hustle, Haunt, Natural Power (IRE), Into the Sunrise, Maven, Inhalation (GB), Turned Aside and Bodenheimer.
