Sent out Finley'sluckycharm to win the 2017 Thoroughbred Club of America (G2) during the Fall Meet and the 2018 Madison (G1) during the Spring Meet.

Won first Keeneland race during the 2007 Fall Meet.

First Keeneland stakes win was the 2008 Shakertown (G3) with Mr. Nightlinger. Won the race again in 2014 with Marchman.

Trained Dubai Majesty, winner of the 2009 Buffalo Trace Franklin County. A year later, she won the Thoroughbred Club of America (G2) en route to a victory in the Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) and the Eclipse Award as champion female sprinter.

Breeders’ Cup wins (2): 2010 Filly and Mare Sprint with champion Dubai Majesty and Turf Sprint with Chamberlain Bridge.

Recorded his 3,000th victory Feb. 10, 2019, at Fair Grounds when Most Mischief won the eighth race.

Career earnings are nearing $79 million with 3,045 wins through June 19, 2019.

Won 13 stakes with Chamberlain Bridge from 2008-2012, topped by the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G2).

Background


Bret’s father, William “Buddy” Calhoun, owned and trained Thoroughbreds at Louisiana Downs. The two claimed a few horses together and Bret began training them, taking out his trainer’s license in 1993. He saddled his first runners the following year.
