Keeneland Promotes The Importance Of Thoroughbred Aftercare

Keeneland takes pride in its long-standing support of Thoroughbred aftercare and is dedicated to promoting successful second chapters of equine athletes following their careers on the race track.

Keeneland sponsors the Arrival Exam and Finale Jogs, the most prominent equine safety and welfare initiatives, at the Retired Racehorse Project (RRP)’s annual Thoroughbred Makeover. The Thoroughbred Makeover showcases the talents of former racehorses who have entered the next phase of their careers.

In 2012, Keeneland joined Breeders’ Cup and The Jockey Club to establish the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA), a nonprofit organization that accredits, inspects and awards grants to approved aftercare organizations that retrain and rehome Thoroughbreds upon their retirement from racing. Keeneland has donated more than $2.6 million to the TAA through contributions derived from its racing and sales programs.
