LEXINGTON, KY (Oct. 1, 2016) – Normandy Farm’s homebred Daddys Lil Darling, winner of the Pocahontas (G2) at Churchill Downs in her most recent start, tuned up for a likely start in Friday’s $400,000 Darley Alcibiades (G1) by working a half-mile in :49.40.
Danny Ramsey was aboard the daughter of Scat Daddy who worked after the Saturday morning renovation break over a fast track.
“It was just a maintenance move,” trainer Kenny McPeek said of the work for Daddys Lil Darling, who earned a fees-paid berth to the 14 Hands Winery Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) at Santa Anita on Nov. 4 with her Pocahontas victory.
McPeek will be trying for a fourth victory in the Alcibiades. His previous victories came with She’s A Devil Due (2000), Take Charge Lady (2001) and Dream Empress (2008).
Only D. Wayne Lukas, with six victories, has won the Alcibiades more than McPeek.
