LEXINGTON, KY (Oct. 20, 2016) – Merriebelle Stable’s Renown (GB) staved off a late bid from Bigger Picture by a nose to win the 22nd running of the $100,000 Sycamore (G3) for 3-year-olds and up before a Thursday afternoon crowd of 8,594.

Renown is trained by Elizabeth Voss, whose late father, Tommy Voss, won the 2008 Sycamore with Always First (GB). The Vosses are the first father-daughter combination to win the same stakes at Keeneland.

Ridden by Angel Cruz, Renown covered the 1½ miles on a soft turf course in 2:35.37.

One Go All Go set the pace with Renown racing in midpack. Going into the far turn, Cruz moved Renown out four wide to make a run at the leaders and joined One Go All Go, Street Fashion and Bullards Alley at the front in the upper stretch.

Charging past the sixteenth pole, Renown struck the front with Bullards Alley to his immediate inside and Bigger Picture surging along the rail and just missing at the wire.

Street Fashion was another four lengths back in fourth and was followed in order by One Go All Go, Postulation, Up With the Birds, Generous Kitten, Behesht (FR), Fixador (BRZ), favored Greengrassofyoming and Wild About You.

Racing continues Friday with a 10-race program beginning at 1:05 p.m. ET that is highlighted by the $150,000 Pin Oak Valley View (G3) for 3-year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles on the grass.
