Market King is the second starter in the Toyota Blue Grass (G2) for successful partners Robert C. Baker and William Mack of New York. Last year, their Grade 1 winner Sporting Chance was fourth in the race.

Baker and Mack, who buy just a couple of horses each year, have sent horses to Racing Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas for nearly three decades. Their most accomplished runners include additional Grade 1 winners Strong Mandate and Dublin; graded stakes winner Smooth Daddy and multiple stakes winner Super Saks.

With partner David Cornstein, Baker and Mack raced Grade 1 winner Scorpion and graded stakes winner Proud Citizen. In 2002, Proud Citizen won Keeneland’s Coolmore Lexington (G2). The trio also campaigned near-millionaire and multiple Grade 1 winner Grand Slam in 1997 and 1998.
