Best Bets of the Day

Race 1 #7

Race 4 #1

Race 5 #5

1st Race

#7 Talent Scout broke his maiden first time out but that was in Oct 2017. So a really long layoff but he is with the Sharp barn now and they are very successful off the layoff. #4 Examiner is coming in off the winter break and dropping in for a tag for the first time. Last year's form is strong for this field. His only win was at this distance. #1 Raphael is making his 3rd start off the layoff. He broke his maiden first back and could land a share here with a similar performance. Top Picks #7, #4 and #1

2nd Race

#5 Snake River Red is with the Ward barn. He is by Hard Spun which suggest he should be quite precocious. #4 Rag Tag comes over with the Pletcher barn. Barn not a usual player with two year olds this early so he must be ready to go. #6 Joker on Jack is the 2nd charge here for the Ward barn. Top Picks #5, #4 and #6

3rd Race

#6 Vevina is making her 2nd start off a brief freshener. She got up for 2nd in that one while facing some fairly tough company. She should handle the added distance being fit off the her last. #3 Nantucket Red has a race over the Keeneland lawn this meet. She didn't fair well in that one but the added distance should move her up. #4 Finess Bere has a couple of decent efforts this year and looks to be improving in her 4 year old campaign. Look for her to find a place on the board. Top Picks #6, #3 and #4

4th Race

#1 View Magic is first off the claim and first time gelding. View Magic's new barn is very successful off the claim and route to sprints types like this guy. Lanerie stays in the irons and like him for the win. #8 Hey Prez is on the drop and another shortening up in distance from his last 2 starts. Last few Beyer numbers are strong enough to suggest he can land a share. #3 Storm Rider is adding blinkers and dropping slightly in class. Like him to boost exotics. Top Picks #1, #8 and #3

5th Race

#5 Moravia is making her first start in the U.S. and getting Lasix for the first time. She exits a 2nd place finish with Grade 3 company in Ireland. Steady works preparing for her return and draws hot jock Rosario to the irons. #4 Gamblin Train outran his odds last time with stakes company finishing a very close 3rd. He can boast the top Beyer Speed figure in this field and posted that number at this distance on the turf. #6 Be Nimble finished 3rd behind Gamblin Train 2 back and he and the 2nd place finisher both won in their next starts. Top Picks #5, #4 and #6

6th Race

#6 Paper Clip brings a bullet work for her return to the races. She finished 3rd here last fall and has the pedigree to suggest she could be fast at this distance. #5 Urban Insight has also been on the shelf since last fall. She just missed breaking her maiden over the Keeneland dirt last fall. Looks good for her return. #2 Miss Lady Locker is a first time starter for the Sims barn. She has been working well for her debut and like her for part. Top Picks #6, #5 and #2b

7th Race

#5 British Invader is first off the claim for the Amoss barn. Barn is very successful with these types. The 3 year old filly finds a soft spot here and is successful at this distance. #7 So Aristocratic is dropping slightly in price. She has what appears to be the only early speed in this one. She lands a share. #2 Double Oaked is getting some class relief from her last few races. She could step up her game and find a spot on the board. Top Picks #5, #7 and #2

8th Race

#4 Fooch is coming off the layoff for the Wesley Ward barn. He has that early foot is takes to win races like this. Velazquez is on board and should prove tough to catch. #9 Milk Chocolate is a distance specialist and he has a recency edge on most of this field. Consistent runner that should definitely be included. #2 Iona Mobe is another with quick early foot. He is trying grass for the first time so proceed with caution but will keep him in exotics. Top Picks #4, #9 and #2

9th Race

#7 Ogre's Cat has been the beaten favorite in his last 2 races. He showed some speed last time which was only his 3rd career start but didn't stay on. He adds blinkers this time and this 7 furlong distance should suit him. Wide open field so taking a chance with this one. #3 Tune In is a first timer for the Cox barn. He is working very nicely for his debut especially at this level. #9 Hermano drops significantly in class and may gain enough confidence to land a share. Top Picks #7, #3, and #9
