Kim Nelson

Kim Nelson has worked with horses all her life. She rode hunter jumpers as a child and teenager. She then moved on to work for North Ridge Farm learning the basics with mares, foals and yearlings. She has worked through the years for Carl Nafzger, Adena Springs, The Daily Racing Form and Marylou Whitney Stables. Keeneland has always been the home track for Kim and this will be her 10 year anniversary handicapping the spring and fall meets.

1st Race

#2 Mine Mine Mine is making her 3rd career start and shortens up from her last. Look for the Mineshaft filly to put it all together here. #5 Agent Provocateur was the beaten favorite last out. She leaves the blinkers behind this time and should be in the mix. #4 Onzaway is coming off a long layoff but has the past form to suggest she can get part.

2nd Race

#4 Class Won is dropping in for a tag. He is proven on the dirt and the distance. Past Beyer numbers are very competitive in this field and he is fresh. #1 Faction Cat is making his 3rd start off the layoff. He has been camera shy settling for 2nd 10 of his 19 tries. He finds a soft spot here and looks good for part again. #7 Electric Avenue is a lightly raced colt that hasn't missed a check in 3 starts. Geroux lands here for the hot Cox barn.

3rd Race

#3 Animus backs up to 7 furlongs after 2 starts going long. He also adds blinkers and Calvin Borel to the saddle. #4 Fort Peck rallied strong up the rail last out to finish 2nd in his first try. Lasix this time out and Leparoux stays in the irons. #2 Surely You Jest has 2 starts under his belt. Couple of good works since his last and expect him to find a spot on the board.

4th Race

#5 Prime Issue looks to be the one that gest out front quick and never looks back. #1 Belgian is a consistent sort that closes fast. Drop in class helps also. #4 Tarpys Zapper also has an early turn of foot and could last for a share.

5th Race

#7 Just Old School making just his 4th career start here. Expect this guy to show more early speed in this one and should be fit enough now to hold on for the win. #2 Catauga County backs up in distance and returns to the dirt. Improved last time and should move up again here. #10 Kinsella has a very sharp work over the local course. Firster looks good for part.

6th Race

#7 Plans to Prosper was very impressive in her first career start. Going long first out is never easy and this filly closed from the clouds to land a 3rd place finish. Very professional and expect to see her in the winners circle here. #4 Flat Meadow has been working well over the Keeneland course. She should appreciate the added distance here. #9 Beau Belle took the winter off and this is her first back. Past 2 starts strong enough to suggest she gets part here.

7th Race

#3 Auntie's the One finished 2nd with similar here on opening day. That was her first off the layoff and she should have gotten a lot out of the race. Expect her sharp here and tough to beat. #1 Clever Serve is a consistent sort and likes this distance. Looks good for part. #7 Upstage has the early foot to steal but has been off for awhile. Still expect this mare to hold on for part.

8th Race

#4 Patterson Cross has a major closing kick and the battle savvy to be very dangerous in here. #8 Deeply Undervalued is making her 2nd start off a long layoff. Decent effort in her first back and top connections will have her sharp here. #7 Honovi adds the blinkers and has plenty of experience in these route races. She been off awhile but still expect her to play a part in the finish.

9th Race

#7 Jenda's Agenda loves to win. She is 4 for 5 and comes over with the Jones barn. The barn is winning at 50% and this filly looks capable of taking this field gate to wire. #9 Valadorna is a distance specialist and is Graded Stakes placed. She has a couple of nice works over the course and is a definite contender. #6 Apologynotaccepted has faced some tough girls in past form. She is making her 3rd off the layoff in this one and she has the talent to be in the mix.

10th Race

#7 City Day exits key race finishing a respectable 3rd to Rushing Falls and Daddy Is A Legend. She improved her Beyer Speed figure significantly when moving to the turf last time. #9 Stave is making her 3rd career start and has been working really well over the local going. #8 Maybe Wicked turned in a strong debut effort and expect her to be competitive here.
