Keeneland Sales Grads Among Sovereign Awards Finalists

LEXINGTON, KY (Jan. 21, 2016) – Gary Barber, Michael James Ambler and Windways Farm’s Catch a Glimpse, winner of the 2015 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) at Keeneland for trainer Mark Casse, is among the Keeneland sales graduates who are finalists for 2015 Sovereign Awards as champions in Canada. The awards will be presented April 8 at Woodbine.

To be eligible for a Sovereign Award, a 2-year-old must have made at least two starts in Canada; 3-year-olds and older horses must have raced there at least three times during their 2015 campaigns.

Sovereign Award finalists who are graduates of Keeneland sales are:

Two-Year-Old Filly: Catch a Glimpse ($75,000, 2014 September Yearling Sale).

Two-Year-Old Male: Summer (G2) winner Conquest Daddyo ($150,000, 2014 January Horses of All Ages Sale); Grey (G3) winner Riker (offered at the 2014 September Sale); Coronation Futurity winner Shakhimat (offered at the 2014 September Sale).

Three-Year-Old Male: Prince of Wales winner Breaking Lucky ($100,000, 2012 November Breeding Stock Sale).

Older Female: Ontario Fashion (G3) winner Cactus Kris ($2,000, 2011 November Sale).

Female Turf Horse: Catch a Glimpse.

Female Sprinter: Cactus Kris.

Male Sprinter: King Edward (G2) winner Tower of Texas ($195,000, 2012 January Sale).

In addition, Ontario Matron (G3) winner Uchenna (IRE), a finalist for champion older female, sold at the 2015 November Sale for $315,000 following her campaign.

Two other finalists in the category of champion 3-year-old male won allowance races during Keeneland’s Spring Meet: Danish Dynaformer and Shaman Ghost.
