Club Car Easily Takes Sunday’s Featured Warrendale Purse

Michael and Katherine Ball’s Club Car swept past the field at the eighth pole and cruised to a 4-length victory over even-money favorite Palace Avenger to win Sunday’s $85,000 featured Warrendale Purse for fillies and mares. (Click here for a replay of the race.)

Trained by Ben Colebrook and ridden by Corey Lanerie, Club Car covered the 6 furlongs on a muddy main track in 1:09.65.

Club Car, a Keeneland sales graduate, is a 5-year-old Kentucky-bred daughter of Malibu Moon out of the Into Mischief mare Sittin At the Bar. The victory was worth $52,182 and improved Club Car’s earnings to $368,404 with a record of 18-4-6-4.

The winner returned $6.80, $2.80 and $2.20. Palace Avenger, ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr., returned $2.80 and $2.10 with Call On Mischief finishing third under Luis Saez and paying $2.20 to show.

Racing resumes Wednesday afternoon with an eight-race program beginning at 1:05 p.m.
