Keeneland Sales Graduates Dominate Pocahontas, Iroquois at Churchill Downs on Saturday

Keeneland sales graduates headline the fields for the Pocahontas (G3) and Iroquois (G3) at Churchill Downs on Saturday. Both stakes are Breeders’ Cup Challenge events and the first races on the Roads to the 2022 Kentucky Oaks (G1) and Kentucky Derby (G1) Presented by Woodford Reserve, respectively.

Keeneland sales alumni comprise nine of the 11 entries, led by stakes-placed Ontheonesandtwos and by Hidden Connection, an impressive debut winner at Colonial Downs, in the Pocahontas, a “Win & You’re In” race for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1). In the Iroquois, a Challenge race for the TVG Juvenile (G1) Presented by TAA, maiden winners Stellar Tap and Guntown, both from the barn of leading trainer Steve Asmussen, highlight the six Keeneland sales graduates.

All seven fillies and mares going postward in the Locust Grove (G3), also at Churchill, are Keeneland sales graduates. The field is topped by 2020 Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner and multi-millionaire Shedaresthedevil, winner this year of the La Troienne (G1) Presented by TwinSpires and Clement L. Hirsch (G1).

Keeneland-sold stablemates Olympic Runner, winner of the King Edward (G2) in August, and multiple graded stakes winner Ride a Cometseek a berth in the FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) Presented by PDJF with a victory in the Ricoh Woodbine Mile (G1) at Woodbine on Saturday.
