6th race – It’s been a rough few weeks for trainer Bob Baffert, who lost two major Kentucky Derby candidates to injury in Nadal and Charlatan and had Authentic suffer his first loss in the Santa Anita Derby. But don’t fret too much for Mr. Baffert. It looks like he has another star in the making in (4) Uncle Chuck who was quite impressive, winning his debut in front-running fashion. In a small field, he should be able to grab the early lead and will not look back. (5) Anneau d’Or finally turned in a better effort in the Santa Anita Derby and looks like the one to fear. (3) Thousand Words turned in a dull effort in the slop at Oaklawn but has perked up in recent works and should be a main threat. Betting strategy: 4 to win, place. Exactas: 4 over 3-5 and 3-5 over 4.
