Auction concludes Saturday
A filly from the first crop of champion Arcangelo sold to Donato Lanni, agent, for $170,000 to post the most expensive price of Friday’s 11th session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
Consigned by Penn Sales, agent for Hannah Smith, the filly is from the family of Grade 2 winner California Angel; Grade 3 winner Cool Kiss; and stakes winners Bashful Charmer, Our Double Play, Cool Spell, Coarsegold, Hot Kiss, Sully’s Dream, Let Em Shine and Golden Diamond. Her dam is the winning Uncle Mo mare Mo’s Love.
With the purchase, Lanni was the session’s leading buyer.
On Friday, with one day remaining in the September Sale, 257 yearlings sold through the ring for $6,086,500, for an average of $23,683 and a median of $17,000. The gross declined 9.54% from last year’s corresponding session when 301 horses sold for $6,728,200. The average is 5.95% higher than $22,353 in 2025, and the median rose 13.33% from $15,000.
Since the auction began Sept. 14, Keeneland has sold 2,595 horses through the ring for $531,986,000, for an average of $205,004 and a median of $100,000. The gross is 4.95% above the same period last year when 2,673 horses brought $506,917,700. The average has increased 8.10% from $189,644 in 2025, while the median is 5.26% higher than $95,000.

Zalimkhan Koilakaev paid $120,000 for a colt from the first crop of Grade 2 winner Pappacap consigned by Paramount Sales, agent. Out of the Distorted Humor mare Red River Hawk, he is from the family of Grade/Group 2 winners Katz Me If You Can, Crazy Mason and Abundancia.
III Beautys Thoroughbred paid $105,000 for a colt by Connect out of the First Samurai mare Beverly’s song. Consigned by Hunter Valley Farm, agent, he is from the family of Grade 2 winner Super Frolic and Grade/Group 3 winners Lindsay Frolic and Drew’s Gold.
Taproot Bloodstock, agent, paid $100,000 for Admirer, a colt by Bolt d’Oro from the family of Grade 2 winner and leading sire Pulpit. Consigned by Bridie Harrison, agent for Peter E. Blum Thoroughbreds, he is out of Worshipper, a winning daughter of Awesome Again.
Taylor Made Sales Agency sold 29 yearlings for $711,000 to lead consignors.
