$220,000 Broodmare Marvelous Time Leads Wednesday at Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale

Centofani TB, agent, paid $220,000 for Marvelous Time, a 4-year-old winning daughter of Distorted Humor in foal to Mystic Guide, to lead Wednesday’s third session of the Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale. 

Consigned by Godolphin, agent, Marvelous Time is out of Grade 1-placed stakes winner Folk, by Quiet American. She is a half-sister to stakes winner Captivating Lass, dam of Grade 1 winner Atone.

Godolphin sold 17 horses for $1,103,000 to lead consignors during the session.

On Wednesday, Keeneland sold 196 horses through the ring for $4,352,900, for an average of $22,209 and a median of $10,000. The total declined 22.35% from $5,605,700 at the corresponding session last year, while the average dipped 2.54% from $22,787 and the median increased 25% from $8,000.

The cumulative gross through three sessions of $35,949,600 for 626 horses is down 13.86% from $41,732,600 for 721 horses sold during the same period last year. The average of $57,427 was comparable to last year’s $57,882, while the median of $22,000 declined 18.52% from last year’s $27,000.

At $210,000, Wednesday’s second high seller was Misty Veil, a 6-year-old daughter of Tonalist who won the Jan. 6 Pippin (L) at Oaklawn Park and sold to Resolute Bloodstock. From the family of Racing Hall of Famer Cigar, she is out of the Birdstone mare Genuine Class. Upson Downs Farm, agent, consigned Misty Veil.

Resolute Bloodstock was the session’s leading buyer, spending $255,000 for two horses.

The most expensive yearling was a filly by Yaupon purchased by Crestwood Farm, agent, for $150,000. Clarkland Farm consigned the filly, whose dam is stakes winner Tiz Imaginary, by Tizway, and from the family of champions Flanders and Surfside.
