3rd race [Md 50000, 6F] – (4) Dark Devil just missed the win last time by a nose after having the lead in the stretch with six top three finishes in nine starts. (5) Frantic will move from turf to dirt in his third race for Todd Pletcher. (6) Tears in Rain debuted in November at Churchill in a race that has produced several winners. (1A) Bobby Bob has a second and third in his two most recent starts in maiden claimers.
4th race [Clm 25000, 6 ½ F] – (4) Amundson switches back to the Kantarmaci barn with top three finishes in 7 out of his last 8 starts with four wins. (5) He’smyhoneybadger makes a big drop in class after getting claimed five times in the high-level optional claiming allowances. (1) For Some Reason has a pair of victories at higher claiming levels than today. (2) Tetsu was second in February for the waiver at this level after an eight-month layoff.
5th race [Alw 50000s, 6F] – (6) Artemis Sound moved from turf to dirt after a four-month layoff and won a N2L claimer by eight lengths on a muddy and sealed track. (4) Scarborough Fair was claimed from a win for $40,000 last month by Linda Rice after a third in a starter allowance. (7) Dangerous Affair began her career in California and moved to a New York barn with four top three finishes in a row. (2) Quiet Confidence had the lead and was third in her first start at Aqueduct after racing in Kentucky.
7th race [NY, OC 80k/N1X, 1 mi] – (7) Royal Bobbie (B) broke in a tangle, got far back in an eight-horse field, rallied to win going a mile in her second start as an odds-on favorite, and got claimed by Linda Rice. (1) Pocket Queens won her last two moving from a NY-bred maiden claimer to an open company starter allowance. (2) Carmen’s Candy Jar won her debut last summer and since then made seven starts in state-bred stakes and allowances hitting the board six times. (4) Pretty Magical won a NY-bred maiden special weight last time in her fifth start.
Best bets: Dark Devil (3rd); Amundson (4th). Best value: Artemis Sound (5th); Royal Bobbie (7th).
