2nd race [Md Sp Wt, 7F] – (2) Sandi’s Satire (A) moved to the main track for her second start, battled for the lead, and ended up a neck behind, well ahead of the rest of the field. (3) Shop Lifting ran the best speed figure of her career in December when she finished second which she did in four of her nine starts. (4) Tipple was last seen missing the win by a nose in her second start which was at Saratoga in August. (1) Shirl’s Delight has been off since May and changes back to the barn of Carlos Martin for whom she ran two years ago.

3rd race [Alw 50000s, 1 1/8 mi] – (6) Backstretch Rose (B) was second at this level in her last two starts including last month when she ran wide throughout the race and rallied from last.  (3) Thirteen Red Flags came back from a layoff and has had three top three finishes at this starter allowance level. (2) Looks First won her last two starts in a $20,000 maiden claimer and a $25,000 claimer for Linda Rice but was taken two weeks ago. (1) Soundbite and (1A) Magic Eight Ball each won their most recent start and make an entry for Michelle Nevin.

4th race [Clm 35000B, 6 ½ F] – (2) Narciso Dali (C) was claimed two races back and was bet down from 7-1 to 3-1 when he pressed the pace, finished second behind a horse that came back to win his next start, and comes back from an April layoff. (6) Liberte de Bayeux won a top starter allowance clearly at the end of December with a career best speed figure. (4) Castle Island cuts back to a sprint after running second going the nine-furlongs at Aqueduct. (3) Augustine Red was third at this level in his last two starts.

7th race [OC50k/SAL50k, 6F] – (2) Western Wolf gets blinkers on and Lasix for the first time after he hit the rail after the start and got pulled up while trying a NY-bred allowance following a convincing maiden claiming victory. (3) Just Clarity gets blinkers and Lasix for the first time after breaking his maiden for $40,000. (5) Tapwrits Temper won an open company maiden claimer by almost four and then ran second in a starter allowance. (7) Strand Road won a NY-bred maiden claimer two weeks ago at the Big A.

Best bets: Backstretch Rose (3rd); Western Wolf (7th). Best value: Sandi’s Satire (2nd); Narciso Dali (4th).
