th race [Futurity (G3), 6F TURF] – (8) No Pressure (A) steadied in the turn, rallied on the wrong lead, and missed by neck at 5-2 in his debut against a field of 10. (7) Belgian was entered to run on the grass for his first start in August but ran on a sloppy and sealed track where he won by 11 lengths at 2-1. (5) Expressway was a rare first-time out winner for Bill Mott just three weeks ago, so improvement is expected. (1) Outfielder was an early winner in May at Churchill Downs for Wesley Ward and then travelled to Deauville in France to run fourth in a Group 1.

th race [Md Sp Wt, 1 mi] – (1) Metfardeh (C) was a $2.3 million yearling that was bet down from 9-1 to 7-1 for her first start, and finished second. (4) Filly Freedom was second twice during the Belmont meetings at Saratoga and blinkers go on now for Chad Brown. (7) Trading Strategy ran twice last year as the favorite with a second-place finish at the fall Keeneland meeting. She comes back with first-time Lasix. (8) Relevate shows three fast workouts at Belmont in preparation for her debut.

th race [Pilgrim (G2), 1 1/16 mi TURF] – (6) Scope (A) rallied on a speed favoring track to finish first but was disqualified to second for bumping that happened in the stretch. (11) Let’s Be Frank (A) raced greenly in his first start, finished third in a turf sprint with a strong rally, and should appreciate the longer distance. Blinkers go on. (9) Capital Partner was a debut winner as the favorite at Saratoga at the beginning of August and then was third in the With Anticipation (G3) as the odds-on choice. (4) Bottas was a winner of his only start as the 2-1 favorite at Saratoga going long on the grass.

th race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 6F TURF] – (12) Saint Margaret (A) had to use a late rally through traffic in the stretch to get third in her first race.  (11) Sassy Sats (D) was bet down from 8-1 to 6-1 in the same race where she had the lead and finished fourth. (8) Island Charm will once again ship up to New York from Fair Hills after stumbling badly back to last out of the gate in her debut at 5-1 and finished fifth. (2) Bouquetry made her first start against open company at Monmouth Park and then faced NY-breds at Saratoga where she set the pace before finishing third. She will move from dirt to turf for a trainer that will win with longshots at times.

Best bets: Metfardeh (7th); Saint Margaret (9th). Best value: No Pressure (6th); Scope (8th).
