1st race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 5F] – (5) Twice the Life will make her debut as a yearling purchase of much more than the stallion fee for a trainer that is good with first-time starters. (2) Beach Life makes her first start for Todd Pletcher, Repole Stable, and John Velazquez. (4) Outlaw Annie shows some sharp workouts at Belmont Park heading up to this race. (1) Mallet Lady is the only horse with experience and changes barns after that race on the turf at Keeneland.
2nd race [Clm 20000B, 1 1/8 mi] – (3) Apalta drops down from his N2L victory for $30,000 followed by a try for a $55,000 tag. (2) Grand Commander was claimed from a second-place finish for $12,500 in a N3L race in April having won the N2L race two weeks earlier. (4) Petrolo comes back from a year layoff when he won the first-level allowance for NY-breds and has five wins already. (7) Shipsational was claimed from a similar spot two races back and then was third beaten by less than a length.
7th race [OC 110k/C, 6 ½ F] – (3) El Grande O was a winner last month with a front-end trip in his second start of the year at this top allowance condition. (2) Money Supply has been off since November with 10 career wins and just shy of $1 million in earnings. (5) Raise the Bar gets blinkers on after setting the pace at this level and finishing third. (6) Over and Ollie won in a similar spot in December and then tried a pair of stakes races.
8th race [Md 55000, 6F TURF] – (8) Oligarch returned from a five-month layoff when he moved back to the grass and ran second at this maiden claiming level. (4) Two Ducks also moved from dirt to turf and was third just a half-length behind the top choice. (7) Thunder Roll has been off since February, moves from dirt to turf, and drops in for a tag for the first time for Bill Mott. (9) Felonious was third in his debut in October which was on the turf, raced at Aqueduct in the winter, and also shows up in a claimer for the first time.
