3rd race [NY, Md 30000, 6F] – (2) Lollipops drops into a claimer after two starts in maiden special weights and showed speed last time. (1) Turbo Train pressed the pace in her debut in a maiden claimer, finished second, and then tried a maiden special weight to no avail. (3) Posse Rocks finished second in her only start for a $30,000 tag after going off at 5-2. (7) Observer after moving to the claiming ranks hit the board three times.
6th race [Clm 30000 N2L, 7F] – (8) Ari’s Magic (B) finished third but got herded out by the second-place finisher. (2) Reynolds Channel won a maiden special weight at Saratoga last summer, raced in only allowances since, and now drops way down. (1) Trust Fund was a debut winner and now exits NY-bred competition while going for a tag for the first time. (6) Blown Cover dropped back to the claiming ranks, pressed the pace, had the lead, and finished second.
7th race [OC32k/SAL25k, 1 mi] – (9) Luna Moth (B) was second all the way around and the best of the rest. (1) Altered Shot was an easy front-end winner at Keeneland in April in her first start of the year and was claimed for $25,000. (2) Save Us Melania comes back after nine days from an allowance race where she set a very fast pace and finished third. (3) Smokin Hot Kitty came back from a four-month layoff in a starter allowance, rallied to get the lead, but was passed by the second choice.
8th race [NY, Alw 81000 N1X, 6F TURF] – (5) Warolo (D) was bet down from 8-1 to 6-1, got loose pre-race, and finished fourth. (12) Bosun moved to the turf at Fair Grounds and got his maiden victory and then came back to NY-bred competition where he rallied for second in an allowance. (6) Not for Hire was a debut winner last year and then tried the Central Park where he set the pace. Last month in his first start of the year he pressed the pace and faded and gets Lasix for the first time. (7) Li’l Lang came back from a winter break to run fourth at this level after breaking alertly and dropping back.
Best bets: Lollipops (3rd); Ari’s Magic (6th). Best value: Luna Moth (7th); Warolo (8th).
