th race [Md Sp Wt, 1 1/16 mi TURF] – (6) Quiet Power made a big improvement in his second race which is typical of Shug McGaughey runners and just missed the win by a nose. (9) Tacticality was sent off as the favorite in his debut for Chad Brown and had to race wide the entire way. (10) Jet Off was on the lead in all three races and improve to get second three weeks ago. (1) British Invasion has a second and a fourth in his two starts.
th race [Md 20000, 1 mi] – (5) Fiscal Drag was last seen in August finishing third at Saratoga when he was claimed for $20,000 by Linda Rice. Blinkers come off. (9) Down the Line was second last month going the one-turn mile. (8) Freedom Maker dropped down to this level for the first time last month, was claimed, and comes back as a gelding. (7) Dr. Insel made his second start after 11 months off and drops down while getting first-time Lasix.
th race [OC40k/SAL, 6F TURF] – (4) Catchphrase (C) bet down from 9-2 to 5-2, ran second the entire race, and got claimed. (2) Will Not Be Swayed was a winner in August and got claimed for $35,000 by Linda Rice. (3) Amazing Athena was also a winner for $35,000, but she did it last month against a full field. (8) Hue was yet another winner for $35,000 in her most recent start in August when she was claimed by Horacio DePaz.
th race [Md 50000, 1 1/16 mi TURF] – (2) Vintage Vino will drop in for a tag for the first time after running well but the turf season is winding down in New York thus Linda Rice may think that the chance of getting claimed is lower. (8) No Merlot returned to the turf and ran the best race of his career when second. (4) Thorsness came back from a seven month layoff and should move ahead in his second start. (5) Nyquistador comes back from an 11 month layoff to make his second start as a new gelding and with first-time Lasix for Chad Brown.
Best bets: Fiscal Drag (7th); Vintage Vino (9th). Best value: Quiet Power (5th); Catchphrase (8th).
