3rd race [Md Sp Wt, 6 ½ F] – (4) Schoolyardsuperman was sent off as the favorite in his September debut but clipped heels and fell while pressing the pace. Manny Franco retains the mount. (5) Dark Assault set the pace and just missed the win by a neck in his second start. (3) Strong Effort makes his debut for Chad Brown and was a $900,000 yearling purchase. (7) Nearly makes his first start for Todd Pletcher and gets John Velazquez to come back north for the mount.
4th race [Clm 17500 N3L, 6 ½ F] – (5) Maxaluna (B) was very hard to load, finished fourth, and was claimed by Linda Rice. (2) Mommasgottagun is another runner for Rice. This one drops into a claimer for the first time with an allowance win showing, cuts back to a sprint, and takes the blinkers off. (4) Sassy Princess was a N2L winner for a $35,000 tag who exits a pair of starter allowances with blinkers on. (6) Belle Cherie came back from a five month layoff to win at the N2L level for the red hot barn of Mike Maker.
5th race [Md Sp Wt, 1 3/16 mi TURF] – (4) My Sherrona (C) had an awkward start in a full field, got to the lead quickly, but ended up third. (1) Investment Process returned from an eight month layoff to make her second start and just missed by a neck at Monmouth Park last month for Chad Brown whose New York barn is doing very well as of late. (7) Inesperee has a pair of top three finishes in longer races like this. (9) Big Magic came back from a five month layoff to run fourth for a trainer that has strong numbers in the second start after time away.
6th race [Md Sp Wt, 1 1/16 mi TURF] – (1) Alibi (B) got squeezed back to last in her debut and rallied to be third at 8-1. (8) Sweet Little Lila was third in the Selima at Laurel Park in her third start. (4) Skywatcher had the lead in her debut and finished second by a nose at the Meadowlands last month at 5-2. (10) The Jeweler was third in her first start for Bill Mott who does not usually win at first asking.
Best bets: Schoolyardsuperman (3rd); Maxaluna (4th). Best value: My Sherrona (5th); Alibi (6th).
