st race [Moc 75000, 6 ½ F] – (2) Credit Risk (C) was bet down from 6-1 to 9-2 in her debut last month where she set the pace and finished second well clear of the rest. (1) Never Heather got to the lead after a stumble at the start and finished second in a similar spot as today. (7) Grit N Glitter pressed the pace in her debut at 5-1 and was second by less than a length for a trainer that does not win with firsters very often. (5) Clarividente was second in her last two starts in maiden special weights in New Jersey.
nd race [Moc 75000C, 1 mi] – (7) Magic in My Eyes (B) was second in her first career start and was well clear of the rest. (3) Factory Setting was sent off at 9-5 in her first race in a NY-bred maiden special weight at Saratoga where she was third behind a horse that won her next start. (2) Chartist made her only start last month and improved from a slow start to finish fifth. (4) Baseball Lady was third when she dropped in for a tag for the first time.
rd race [NY, OC 45k/N2X, 6 ½ F] – (7) National Identity returned from a five month layoff to win the first-level allowance by five lengths. (1) Stewie won that first allowance at Saratoga and then was second in a starter allowance. Last month he had some trouble in his first try in the second-level allowance. (3) What’s Up Bro was claimed from his last two which includes a second-level allowance win during the summer. (4) Yo Banana Boy has a series of good efforts in N2X allowances after a win at Aqueduct a year ago.
th race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 6 ½ F] – (9) Margarita Molly set the pace in her debut at Saratoga and finished third. On a sloppy track in a Finger Lakes stakes race she pressed the pace and was fourth. (1) Absolute Smoke made a big improvement in her second start last month at Aqueduct when she was third. (5) Hot Currency was second in her first race but then ran into a horse that won two races in a row. Linda Rice puts blinkers on this $200,000 2-year-old purchase. (6) R U Bluffing was 9-1 for her debut for a trainer that has impressive stats with second-time starters.
Best bets: Credit Risk (1st); National identity (3rd). Best value: Magic in My Eyes (2nd); Margarita Molly (4th).
