2nd race [Clm 30000 N2L, 1 1/16 mi TURF] – (2) Splendid Summer was second in his first start of the year after also running second at Saratoga with both races in the N2L condition. (3) Proven Hope moved back to the turf in his first start off the claim and was a winner of a $40,000 maiden claimer. (5) Born a Gambler will make his second start of the year for a new trainer. He was second at this level last year. (9) Labarde has been racing in starter allowances since breaking his maiden for $40,000 and now switches back to the turf.

5th race [NY, Md 30000, 6F] – (5) Tommy Gun will make his first start of the year. He was claimed out of his prior two races and now goes for Mike Maker with Irad Ortiz back on board. (4) Gentleman Burglar is projected to be on the lead and gets blinkers on for his third career start. (7) Bad Larry made his debut at Oaklawn Park in a race where the top two finishers came back to win their next starts. Blinkers go on as he drops into this claimer for his second career start. (12) Modern Midas returns from a year layoff as a new gelding for a new trainer after getting bet in his three starts last year.

6th race [NY, Alw 80000 N1X, 6F TURF] – (10) Sikum (A) was claimed in February and then came back last month in a first-level allowance where she got jostled, had to steady on the backstretch, and rallied to miss the win by less than a length. (5) Camp Akeela will return to NY-bred company after spending the winter at Fair Grounds for Tom Amoss where she broke her maiden and then tried a pair of stakes races. (2) U Should B Dancing cameback from a July layoff to run fifth at this level. Last year she was a winner of a starter allowance. (3) Stolen Future won a maiden special weight last month in her second career start for Mark Casse.

9th race [Md 40000, 6F TURF] – (1) Cynwyd will make his first start of 2023 after a pair of seconds in maiden special weights in turf sprints after pressing the pace. (4) Theregoesmymiracle was second in his first race of the year which came in a Tampa Bay Downs maiden special weight. Flavien Prat gets the mount for the first time. (9) Eddiemush will make his debut for George Weaver who places this $30,000 purchase in for a tag. (11) Father of Lies made his turf debut three weeks ago and improved greatly when he was third at Aqueduct.

Best bets: Splendid Summer (2nd); Cynwyd (9th). Best value: Tommy Gun (5th); Sikum (6th).
