5th race [Md Sp Wt, 5 ½ F TURF] – (11) Florida Patriot (A) set the pace in her debut, missed by a neck while well clear of the rest. (1) My Divine Spirit comes back from a winter layoff and when last seen was second behind a horse who went on to win an allowance at Gulfstream Park. (7) I’m Very Sweet move from dirt to turf and finished second after a year away from racing. (10) Clearly Sophia had been away for four-months, moved back to the grass and stalked to second at Laurel Park.

6th race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 7F] – (7) Axis Point (D) was bet down from 23-1 to 11-1 before her first start, on the lead for most of the race, and faded in the final sixteenth for a low-profile trainer. (12) Tuthilltown returned from a five month layoff and battled the entire way on the front-end and missed by a head. (8) Liberty’s Advance changes to the barn of Bill Mott and has a couple of seconds in a state-bred stakes and a maiden. (3) Careless Whisper debuted in a race that was meant for the turf but was run on a muddy and sealed track, had the lead, and missed by a head.

8th race [Intercontinental (G2), 5 ½ F TURF] – (3) In Our Time cut back to sprinting following the Pegasus WC F&M Turf and won the Giants Causeway (G2) at Keeneland in April. (2) Creed’s Gold hit the board in all three starts this year in stakes including a second and a third in Grade 2 races in Kentucky. (9) Shoot It True finished in the top three in her last five starts. Last year she won twice at Saratoga. (5) Love Cervere won the License Fee (G2) at Aqueduct in May.

9th race [Alw 55000s, 1 mi] – (8) Georgia Magic (B) set the pace in May, battled head to head, finished second by a nose well clear of the rest of the field, and got claimed for $55,000. (7) Cocktailsnkringle was second in a similar spot last month. (1) Miami Frank was first or second in his last four starts including a starter allowance at Gulfstream in April. (4) Sequential was an open length winner of a $55,000 claimer three weeks ago.

Best bets: Florida Patriot (5th); Georgia Magic (9th). Best value: Axis Point (6th); In Our Time (8th).
