Claiborne Breeders' Futurity Winner Ted Noffey Completes 2-Year-Old Grade 1 Sweep For Connections

Spendthrift Farm’s Ted Noffey was walking the shedrow Sunday morning at trainer Todd Pletcher’s barn a day after his 2¾-length victory in the 112th running of the Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity (G1).

With the victory, Ted Noffey gave Spendthrift and Pletcher a sweep of the two Grade 1 races for 2-year-olds during Fall Stars Weekend. On Friday, Tommy Jo was the winner via disqualification in the 74th running of the Darley Alcibiades (G1).

Pletcher also swept both races in 2023 with Candied in the Darley Alcibiades and Locked in the Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity.

John Velazquez rode both winners, who earned fees-paid berths into Breeders’ Cup races Oct. 31 at Del Mar.
