Charlene Gabler’s Frosty View took the lead at the top of the stretch and drew off to post a 2¾-length victory in Friday’s featured $130,000 Betz Purse for 3-year-olds and up at Keeneland.
Trained by Joel Berndt and ridden by Abel Cedillo, Frosty View completed the 5½ furlongs on a firm turf course in 1:02.40. The victory was the first for Berndt at Keeneland.
Now a winner of four of his past six races, Frosty View is a 4-year-old gelded Minnesota-bred son of Frosted out of the Hard Spun mare Clare View. He was bred by Lothenbach Stables.
Frosty View rewarded his backers with payoffs of $13.58, $6.62 and $5.66. Smokey Smokey rallied to get second under Tyler Gaffalione and returned $9.26 and $7.42 with Monsieur Candy getting third under Corey Lanerie and paying $5.36 to show.
