Keeneland Championship Sale Adds Share in Upstart, Lifetime Breeding Right in Life Is Good, 50% Fractional Ownership Interest in Breeders’ Cup Contender Citrus Springs

Oct. 28 auction has three new supplements

Keeneland today announced three additional supplements to the catalog for its Championship Sale on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at historic Castleton: a 2.5% fractional interest in leading sire Upstart; a lifetime breeding right in Life Is Good; and a 50% ownership interest in stakes-winning 2-year-old filly Citrus Springs, who was pre-entered in the $1 million John Deere Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1).

The new offerings add to a curated collection of exceptional racing and breeding opportunities being presented during Breeders’ Cup week, including interests in horses targeting the World Championships at Keeneland on Oct. 30-31.

Share in leading sire Upstart

The 2.5% fractional interest in Upstart, the established Grade 1 sire enjoying another strong season of racing and sales success, provides two breeding seasons annually and includes the shareholder’s proportionate income beginning in 2027 and continuing in subsequent years.

Upstart, who bred a career-high 179 mares in 2026, will stand for $40,000 in 2027 at Airdrie Stud in Midway, Kentucky. The share is consigned by Claiborne Farm, agent.

Upstart continues to distinguish himself through the performance of his progeny, ranking second nationally by number of 2-year-old winners in 2026. His runners include this year’s Central Bank Ashland S. (G1) winner Percy’s Bar and undefeated Pocahontas S. (G3) winner Manuka Honey, who was pre-entered in the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) at Keeneland on Oct. 30.

The stallion has been represented by 15 black-type horses in 2026, further demonstrating the depth and consistency of his progeny. His established runners include Toyota Blue Grass S. (G1) winner Zandon and graded stakes winners Trademark, Kathleen O., Prerequisite, Masqueparade and Fondly. His success on the race track has also translated to the sales ring, with his yearling average and median prices increasing steadily in each of the past four years.

Lifetime breeding right in leading freshman sire Life Is Good

A lifetime breeding right in Life Is Good, the leading freshman sire by black-type winners and graded stakes winners in 2026, also has been supplemented to the Championship Sale. The lifetime breeding right is consigned by Hill ‘n’ Dale at Xalapa, agent.

The breeding right provides lifetime access to the stallion without the expenses or equity associated with ownership in the syndicate.

Life Is Good has made an immediate impact with his first crop of runners. His early success includes Grade 1 winner The Good Life, winner of this year’s Spendthrift Hopeful S. (G1) at Saratoga, and multiple stakes winner Waggley, who captured the Kentucky Juvenile S. Presented by Resolute Racing at Churchill Downs and the Prairie Gold Juvenile S. at Prairie Meadows.

Additionally, he has become the fastest sire to be represented by four TDN Rising Stars.

Other high-class runners include two fillies pre-entered in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1): Scarlett Begonia, runner-up in the Pocahontas S. (G3) and third in the Adirondack S. (G3); Life Changing, runner-up in the White Clay Creek S.; and Caribbean Life, third in the Iroquois S. (G3).

Stakes winner Citrus Springs offers immediate Breeders’ Cup opportunity

A 50% fractional interest in Citrus Springs, a stakes-winning 2-year-old daughter of freshman sire Olympiad, also has been supplemented to the Championship Sale. The filly has been pre-entered in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) to be run Oct. 30, just two days after the auction.

Citrus Springs broke her maiden by 5 lengths going 7 furlongs at Gowran Park in Ireland on Aug. 12 before traveling to Kentucky where she captured the Pepsi Kentucky Downs Juvenile Fillies S. (L) on her U.S. debut. With that victory, she became the first stakes winner for her sire, Olympiad.

Citrus Springs is out of a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Protonico.

The 50% interest is consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.
