Remsen Stakes – Grade 2 | Purse $250,000 | One Mile and One-Eighth | Two Year Olds

Top winning contenders are Chambersville (5), Talkin (11), Igniter (7)

Contenders for second in exactas: Paladin (2), Renegade (9)

Analysis and Contenders:

With three horses who like to set a blistering pace – Day One Starter (1), Balboa (10), and Concorneau (8) – none of the three seems able to find peace in the lead, and all three will be tired by the stretch.

Chambersville (5) is the only one among the 12 entrants in this race to have run a mile and one-eighth distance. He won that race on October 25, showing a kick from fourth at the quarter-pole and winning by a length in a field of 12, earning the best Equibase Speed Figure of 92. All three of his races were on turf, but that is not a problem, as Chambersville has a strong pedigree. Trainer McPeek also trained 2025 Kentucky Derby winner Mystic Dan and Kentucky Oaks winner Thorpedo. Since his last race on October 2, Chambersville improved from an 84 figure to a 92, showing a pattern of progress. Even though Chambersville won his last race, he is coming off turf and moving to dirt, where all the rest of the entries have won on dirt; his odds should be excellent for a win bet.

Talkin (11) finished second in the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes on October 4, rallying from seventh early to finish second behind the winner Napoleon Solo, who earned a 98 figure. Napoleon Solo was planned to run in the 2025 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Stakes, where he would have been a top favorite, but connections decided to wait until 2026, making Talkin a strong contender. Talkin earned an 87 figure after posting an 81 in his last start and is showing improvement. Talking’s sire, Good Magic, produced the 2022 Remsen winner Dubyuhnell and the 2023 Remsen winner Dornoch, both trained by Gargan.

Igniter (7) last won his race on September 27 and earned 87, the same exact figure as Talkin, after a 73 on his career debut on August 9, also showing a pattern of improvement. He won that race at the same one-mile distance as Talkin's at Aqueduct. Igniter won his start from off the pace, so he should improve to be one of the top contenders among the three.

Bets:
