Keeneland Select Pick of the Day | March 28, 2026

Race 13 at Gulfstream Park | Saturday, March 28 | Post Time 5:58 PM Eastern

The Pan American Stakes – Grade 3 | Purse $225,000 | One Mile and One-Half on Turf | Four Year Olds and Upward

Top Win Contender: Far Bridge (7)

Other contenders: Padiddle (4), Dashman (6), Corruption (1)

For second on exactas: Echo Lane (8)

Far Bridge (7) is unbeaten in four races at Gulfstream Park, all on turf, including the 2026 Pan American Stakes, where he won as the 4 to 5 favorite. He won two similar races since then, the Man O’War in May and the Bowling Green Stakes in July, where he earned 113 and 116 figures, the same figures he earned when winning in 2024 on the Sword Dancer Stakes and Turf Classic Stakes. Far Bridge is making his first start after six months, and he won this race last year off a four-month break, so that should be no problem. He is the horse to beat, but he will be the favorite.

Padiddle (4) ran in the Mac Diarmida Stakes on February 28, where he rallied from eighth (of nine), and although he finished fifth, he was two lengths behind the winner, and the second finisher was a length behind. He was 72 to 1 odds when he finished second in the William L. McKnight Stakes on January 24 in the one-and-a-half-mile race at Gulfstream Park. He improved, earning a 107 Equibase Speed Figure in the Mac Diarmida after a 104 figure in the McKnight. He was 9 to 1 in the two-mile H. Allen Jerkens Stakes on December 6 and finished third. His only win at Gulfstream Park on turf at a similar distance (11 furlongs) in March 2025 at 7 to 2 odds, but it was his second race on turf and his eighth race. He finished third in the 2025 Pan American Stakes, the 2025 Man O’War Stakes, and the 2025 Belmont Gold Cup Stakes. He will be at high odds, and he gets jockey Morelos riding him for the first time. Morelos has won six races and finished second 10 times out of 65 rides for trainer Dobles over three years, often on longshots. Padiddle is a good play in trifectas and exactas.

Dashman (6) won the 2025 William L. McKnight race at this distance at 19 to 1, but he was off a six-month layoff when he finished seventh in August. He was on another layoff until February 28. He finished fourth, but that was just a race to get him ready for this race, as that last race was just one month ago and a mile and one-sixteenth. When he won the McKnight, Dashman also had prepped at one and one-sixteenth. His trainer, Brian Lynch, is winning nearly 30% of all races at the Gulfstream Park meeting. Dashman earned a 116 figure, which would be competitive if he runs that fast.

Corruption (1) missed by a neck in the 2025 Pan American, beaten by Far Bridge. He battled neck-and-neck the last eight to the wire. He won three of four other races at Gulfstream Park on turf, and a classified allowance last July at Saratoga, where he finished with a career 109 figure. He finished third in the Turf Cup in September, earning a career-best 111 figure, beaten half a length by the runner-up. He finished fifth in his last race, a one-mile race, and eighth in November. At this distance, he could have a shot.

Echo Lane (8) finished second by a half-length in the Mac Diarmida last month. It was his first time racing this distance, and he earned a 106 figure. He won seven of 19 races on turf, and he finished 10 times in second or third, so he too has a shot at least in the exacta.
