Four yearlings reach seven figures during fifth session

Keeneland’s September Yearling Sale resumed Saturday after its scheduled one-day hiatus and posted $61 million in through-the-ring sales led by four seven-figure horses: a $1.5 million colt by Not This Time, a $1.4 million filly by Not This Time, a $1.25 million colt by Life Is Good and a $1 million colt by Into Mischief. The group increased the record number of horses sold for $1 million or more during the first five sessions to 69.

Saturday marked the first day of the Book 3 catalog when Keeneland sold 255 yearlings through the ring for $61,072,000, down slightly from the fifth session last year when 278 horses brought $61,799,000. The average increased 7.74% from $222,299 last year to $239,498, while the median of $200,000 was 11.11% higher than $180,000. During the fifth session last year, two horses sold for $1 million or more through the ring.

Cumulatively, 888 horses have sold through the ring for a total of $379,187,000, an increase of 2.64% from the same period in 2025 when 949 horses brought $369,438,000. The average of $427,012 is 9.69% above $389,292, while the median is equal at $300,000. Last year through the corresponding period, 53 horses sold for $1 million or more.

Today’s $1.5 million high seller was the colt by Not This Time sold to RTM Racing. Consigned by Gainesway, agent, he is the first foal out of Ana’s Gun, by Gun Runner, a half-sister to Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) winner Structor. The colt also is from the family of Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Always a Runner; Australian champion Lady of Camelot; Grade 2 winner More Than Real; and Australian Group 3 winners Queen Of The Ball and Platinum Jubilee.

“It’s really tough to find the horses like him,” agent Mahmud Mouni said after he signed the ticket for RTM Racing. “He’s amazing, he’s gorgeous, amazing pedigree. He’s been on our list (from day one). But we’ve gotten less surprised (by the prices). It’s the fifth day, but you know what, (for) the good horse, everybody likes it. It doesn’t matter what book it is. I think the horse deserved what he got (bidding-wise). This horse could be in Book 1, Book 2.”  

Gainesway, which sold four of the session’s 10 highest-priced horses, led consignors with sales of $12,685,000 for 39 yearlings.

Lauren Carlisle, agent, paid $1.4 million for the filly by Not This Time. Consigned by Eaton Sales, agent, she is out of O’Maggi, by Paddy O’Prado, and from the family of Grade 1 winner Dream Tree.

Spending $2,835,000 for five yearlings, Carlisle was the session’s leading buyer.

Gainesway, agent, consigned the son of Life Is Good sold for $1.25 million to St. Elias, West Point, Lane’s End Racing and Belladonna. Out of the Liam’s Map mare Graceful Fancy, a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Fashion Business (GB), he is from the family of Grade 1 winners La Gueriere and Al Mamoon; Grade 2 winners Lasting Approval and sire Munnings; and Grade 3 winner Lost Soldier. His 2-year-old half-brother, Fancy Ferraro, won his career debut Sept. 9 at Kentucky Downs.

In other high-priced sales on Saturday:

Fergus Galvin, agent, spent $1 million for the colt by Into Mischief who is out of the Curlin mare Weather Delay, a daughter of Grade 1 winner American Gal. He is from the family of additional Grade/Group 1 winners Reynaldothewizard and Seventh Street along with Grade 2 winner Lake Avenue.

Two yearlings sold for $850,000 each.

Donato Lanni, agent for FRC/Starlight/Madaket Bedouin Bloodstock, agent, went to the amount for a colt by Good Magic who is a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Mongolian Groom. Consigned by Bedouin Bloodstock, agent, he is out of the winning Dynaformer mare Bourbonesque and from the family of Grade 1 winners Versailles Treaty and George Vancouver; Grade 2 winner Dragon Bay; and Grade 3 winners For Kicks and Saarland.

Al and Sandee Kirkwood spent $850,000 to acquire a colt by Flightline who is a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Constellation and stakes winner Truth Seeker. From the family of Grade 2 winner Kiss to Remember, he was consigned by Lane’s End, agent for Summer Wind Equine.

CHC Inc., Maverick Racing and Light Post Ventures paid $750,000 for a son of Honor A. P. from the family of champion Abel Tasman; Grade 1 winner Bevo; Grade 2 winners Wilburn, Beethoven and Grand Sonata; and Grade 3 winners Sky Girl, Moonlight Sonata and Moonlight d’Oro. Woods Edge Farm, agent, consigned the colt, who is the first foal out of the Quality Road mare Silent Wings.

Two yearlings brought $700,000 apiece.

Gainesway, agent, consigned a filly by Candy Ride (ARG) who is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Shotgun Hottie sold to Courtlandt Farm for the amount. She is from the family of Grade 1 winners Pure Clan, Sky Diva and Finley’sluckycharm; Grade 2 winner Greater Good; and Grade 3 winner Gather the Clan (IRE). Her dam is Re Entry, by Malibu Moon.

RTM Racing and Whisper Hill Farm paid $700,000 for a colt by Gun Runner who is out of Grade 1 winner Malibu Prayer, by Malibu Moon, and is a half-brother to stakes winner Igniter. Denali Stud, agent, consigned the colt, who is from the family of Grade 1 winner Swagger Jack; Grade 2 winners Tap Dance and Valid; and Grade 3 winner Delahaye.
